Abstract

This issue of the Latin American Journal of Inclusive Education is dedicated to reflecting on the relationship between coexistence and learning. In the daily life of educational institutions, the network of problems that shows the close link between these two fields of study has to do with failure, violence and exclusion, since in the school the purposes of development and integration coexist alongside practices of mistreatment and discrimination. The theme of coexistence and learning means assuming that the educational experience only occurs through the inter-subjective encounter between people. And if this is not developed under parameters of psychological, ethical and emotional well-being, it can be very difficult or even impossible to teach and learn (Onetto, 2003).

Author Biographies

María Cecilia Fierro, Universidad Iberoamericana León

Doctora por el DIE-CINVESTAV-IPN con la tesis: Conflictos morales en el ejercicio de la función directiva del nivel básico. Investigadora y académica de la Universidad Iberoamericana León, actualmente responsable de la Dirección de Investigación. Tiene estudios de Lic. en Pedagogía y Maestría en Investigación y Desarrollo de la Educación. Su trabajo de investigación se ha enfocado al estudio y la generación de propuestas de intervención relacionadas con la práctica docente, la gestión directiva, la innovación y la gestión ética de la escuela. Miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. Es miembro fundador de la Red Latinoamericana de Convivencia Escolar.

Bertha Fortoul, Universidad La Salle, México

Licenciatura, maestría y doctorado en educación, siendo el título de su tesis doctoral: El estudiante normalista: su visión de lo educativo. Fue investigadora del Centro de Estudios Educativos y actualmente es maestra de tiempo completo con funciones de investigador en la Universidad La Salle, México. Sus líneas de investigación han sido: la formación de maestros para la educación básica y la convivencia escolar. Su publicación más reciente es un artículo intitulado: La pedagogía centrada en el aprendizaje: retos para la función de docencia en las universidades. Es miembro del SNI, nivel 1.
