Defending the rights of persons with disabilities: a practical experience on violations of article 19 of the CRPD associations from organized in Spain

CERMI assumes in Spain the role of independent mechanism to monitor the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in accordance with Article 33.2. This article describes activities of individual and collective defense undertaken in the performance of these functions, which include strategic litigation cases and violation of individual rights. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of these activities provides a current view of the situation in Spain regarding the rights of people with disabilities and in particular regarding article 19 about the right to independent living.
