Basic Vocational Education and Training (BVET) in Spain represents a consolidated model for reducing school dropout as it is designed to provide training opportunities for those adolescents who have difficulties in continuing successfully in compulsory secondary education. Addressing the participation of those who face the most difficulties represents an important social challenge as recognised in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and in Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 10, which focus on quality education and the reduction of inequalities. Thus, this article focuses on the relationship of participatory processes in BVETs and the optimal state of development and well-being in various aspects of human life that contribute to a full and satisfying life (flourishing). For this purpose, data from the latest edition of the DROGAS Y ESCUELA X survey on drug use in Secondary Education 2021-2022 in the Basque Country, which incorporates two modules of questions on participation and flourishing, were used. Through the comparative analysis of averages, the results provide us with information on the positive influence of participation on the perception of a full and satisfactory life among BVET students.
