The Index For Inclusion as an Institutional Self-Assessment tool: an Experience Report

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the process of educational self-assessment conducted by an educational institution in Santiago, Chile, from March to August 2012, from the use of the third version of the Index for Inclusion, which operated as a tool mediating processes of change at the level of Cultures, Policies and Practices. The main conclusions of the work have to do with the process of self-enrichment from the use of the material, which provides, according to participants, a reflective and transformative view, guiding the search for barriers and resources for inclusion. In this sense, participation is essential in this process, becoming bridge to achieve local empowerment and thus guide the trajectory of the institution towards a more open and inclusive school culture.

Ignacio Figueroa Céspedes, Universidad Diego Portales

Psicólogo Educacional y Magister en Desarrollo Cognitivo. Actualmente coordina el área de Extensión y Asesorías del Centro de Desarrollo Cognitivo de la Universidad Diego Portales. Docente del Magister en Desarrollo Cognitivo de la UDP y del Magister en Psicología Educacional de la Universidad de Santiago. Posee una amplia experiencia profesional en el ámbito de la Inclusión Educativa, Desarrollo Cognitivo y Convivencia Escolar; desarrollando líneas investigativas ligadas al Cambio Escolar y la Innovación Docente. Miembro de la Red Index For Inclusion Network.

Yolanda Muñoz, Universidad de Alcalá


Doctor de la Universidad de Alcalá (UAH) en el Departamento de Ciencias de la Educación, acreditada como profesora contratado doctor. Su línea de trabajo e investigación está dirigida al análisis y desarrollo de estrategias de mejora de la Escuela desde una perspectiva inclusiva, concretamente estrategias organizativas y metodológicas que den respuesta a la diversidad del alumnado en todos los niveles, línea de trabajo que lleva desarrollando desde su tesis doctoral en el año 2009. Ha participado en varios proyectos de investigación relacionados con su línea de investigación, así como en diversos proyectos de innovación docente subvencionados por la propia Universidad.
