The right to education of persons with disabilities: promoting the concept of inclusive education

Abstract

The present article is based on the Report “The Right to Education of People with Disabilities” developed by the Latin American Campaign for the Right to Education and presented in 2009 to the Interamerican Commission of Human Rights in alliance with CEJIL and the UN Special Rapporteur to the Right to Education. This document presents data, the inclusive education concept present in international and national legislation, as well as cases of violation and best practices. It finishes presenting conclusions and key recommendations.

Camila Croso, Campaña Latinoamericana por el Derecho a la Educación

Coordinadora general de la Campaña Latinoamericana por el Derecho a la Educación y vicepresidenta de la Campaña Mundial por la Educación. Integra el panel de consejeros del Right-to-Education Project. Se licenció en la Universidad de San Pablo y obtuvo en 1998 un master en Política Social y Planificación en Países en Desarrollo por la London School of Economics. Coordinó el programa Observatório da Educação, de la ONG Ação Educativa (2003-2007), así como la Campaña Nacional Brasileña por el Derecho a la Educación (1999-2003).
